With a large collection of songs, Amsterdam's musical culture treat the city nostalgically and lovingly. The 1949 song "Aan de Amsterdamse grachten" was performed and recorded by many artists. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam is recongized as a world-class symphony orchestra. Their home is the Concertgebouw, which is considered by critics to be a concert hall with some of the best acoustics in the world. Amsterdam owns three main theatre buildings: the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam at the Leidseplein, the Dutch National Opera & Ballet (formerly known as Het Muziektheater), and the Royal Theatre Carré.
