Distinctive and delicious, Austria food is traditionally of meat and dumplings. The most famous food may be Wiener Schnitzel, Knödel and Tafelspitz. Apart from these, Austria is renowned for its pastries and desserts, the most well-known of which is probably the Apfelstrudel. Strudel, Sachertorte, Eszterházy, Malakhoff, Manner Schnitten, Milchrahmstrudel, Powidl are other desserts you should have a try. Going a Gasthaus or Gasthof will give you a good experience of traditional Austria food with reasonable prices. Menus are available in German, though some of the restaurants have English menus as well. Keep in mind that tipping is expected throughout all restaurants in Austria. Rounding up the price given on the bill is usually enough tip.
