Currency

The official currency of Argentina is the peso (ARS). Coins come in 5, 10, 25, 50 centavo and 1 and 2 peso denominations. Banknotes are issued in values of 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 pesos.

The US dollar is generally accepted as legal tender. Other foreign currencies can be exchanged in banks or bureaux de change in every major city. Most major credit cards are widely accepted and although ATMs are available.

Tipping

Tipping of 10% in restaurant is customary and expected. Two peso per baggage for taking luggage to your room.

Tax Refund

IVA (Impuesto de Valor Agregado) is the Argentine equivalent of VAT or sales tax and is usually included in the price for goods and services except food or medicines. The VAT rate in Argentina is 21%. To be entitled to the refund, you must spend at least 70 Argentine Pesos in the store.
